What to do if you have bad performance of your campaigns?

What to do when your campaigns underperform: check your ad formats, target COS, ad assets and credit, or ask us for help.

1️⃣ Check the campaign formats you use

See which ad formats are currently running (e.g. Performance Max, Shopping, DSA, Meta).

  • Evaluate their performance and compare the results (e.g. revenue, COS, conversion rate).

  • If some formats are not delivering results, you can temporarily switch them off or scale them back so that the budget shifts to better-performing channels.

2️⃣ Check your target COS

Make sure your target COS is set realistically in relation to your margins and business goals.

  • If the target COS is too low, the system may limit how often your ads are shown, and with it their performance.

  • On the other hand, a target COS that is too high may mean you are spending more than is efficient.

3️⃣ Review the quality of your ad assets

The quality of your texts, images and product feed has a major impact on campaign performance.

  • Make sure you use up-to-date, high-quality images of your products.

  • Headlines and descriptions should be clear, persuasive and relevant.

  • Check that your XML product feed is complete and meets the requirements of the advertising platforms.

4️⃣ Budget and credit

Daily campaign budgets and the split of credit across channels are managed and continuously optimised by the system automatically based on performance, which is what we recommend. Custom campaign budgets are available only with a Tanganica Premium subscription, see How to set custom campaign budgets.

  • You control the total volume of advertising: by how much credit you top up, which channels you have switched on and what target COS you have set.

  • When credit is low, campaigns collect fewer conversions and the learning phase takes longer, so performance tends to be uneven at first.

5️⃣ Ask us for help

If you are not sure where the problem is, write to us via Support in the app. We'll be happy to go through with you:

  • the performance of your campaigns,

  • recommendations for optimisation,

  • the right settings for your goals.
